FAQs

Here is a short list of questions that many people may want answering, both from experienced and non-experienced TTD users alike:

Questions from seasoned users of the game

What are you hoping to achieve in this set?
Most likely we'll be aiming for a comprehensive set featuring the British rail network's locomotives and wagons, covering the TTD time scale of 1921-2050. Of course this will include some futuristic locomotives, so keep your eye on that. There may also be other things included like station buildings (very unlikely, but we have some great graphic artists on the forums), and several other bits related to the British network.

The BR Set has been setup and the early stages have been passed many times now, only for the set to fail. What makes you think your attempt will be any different?
We don't have any particular difference between the previous BR Set team(s), but we will try our hardest to finish this - it's long overdue.

Why do you need to do this? The UKRS is a perfectly adequate representation of British railway history.
Indeed it is, and I for one have no intention of stepping on the great PikkaBird's toes. However, the UKRS uses company colours from the game. While there is nothing wrong with this, the original BR Set had in mind the idea of making available several different liveries of each Class of locomotive. Even so, there will be no attempt to undermine PikkaBird's efforts.

You're using my graphics without my permission.
This may well be a problem early on as we know graphics exist for earlier attempts, and indeed we have the grf BRSet 0.3.0. We can't really do too much about this at the moment, since we don't know who still cares about the graphics they drew and who didn't. However, if you're bothered by the fact we're making use of your graphics without your permission, contact one of us by Private Message at the TT-Forums, or alternatively e-mail one of the team, who will be happy to sort out your problem. Hopefully, we can nail out an agreement about their usage if they're graphics for previous BR Sets, and maybe even get you on board!

When will the set be finished?
Employ the basic concept of the TT-Forums - When It's Done.

Questions from people who have just stumbled across this set

Wow, I'm using your stats for my research!
No. Don't. All the values you see in the Tracking Table are slightly edited for TTD's engine. They're not reliable figures at all.

This is pathetic.
It is? It's a game. No doubt you also play computer games. Do you have a patch or a mod that makes things different? Nine times out of ten your answer will be yes. This is simply another mod for a game that we all enjoy playing.

Are you all just a bunch of trainspotters?
I don't own an anorak... nor do I take a camera to the train station. I'm not quite that sad - yet.

Even so, this game is TEN years old!
Find us a better transport game available.

You got me interested, how do I get playing?
Since I don't support illegal downloading of software, I really shouldn't tell you where to download TTD, but it's no longer available in the shops so what the hell. If you browse the forums (link on the left), you'll get several hints.

After you get the game, you'll need to install the patch, again look to the left to get the patch, and there are instructions from there.

How much will this set cost?
None. It's free. And it won't come with ten tonnes of spyware either, it's just the graphics file.
