The wonder that is TTDPatch began in around 2001 when
Josef Drexler and some other people decided to write a program that would
enhance the abilities of Transport Tycoon and fix the few problems that there
were in it. They soon released version 1.8, a major release, and it
fixed and added many things, including:
More Vehicles
Trucks & Buses queue at stations instead of
going around in circles
Longer Trains than was previously possible
Bigger Stations \ Longer Bridges
Railway Pre-Signals (These are a bit complicated
to explain here, try searching for 'Pre-Signals' on the TTDPatch Wiki at
wiki.ttdpatch.net)
Windows 2000/XP compatability
Sign Cheats (Where you make a sign, then type Cht:
and a code word, and it will activate a cheat, like get more money or change
all the tracks from one type to another for free. Again, see the TTDPatch
Wiki for more info.)
Everyone applauded their work, but they weren't finished
yet, and they still aren't! Since then, they have added hundreds more
features, the biggest being the ability to add new graphics into the game. For
more information on this, see the 'About the New Graphics' page. They
release an 'alpha' version every week or so, which is at the front of development,
and is where they are experimenting with some of the most exciting features
yet:
New Industries and Cargo types (early examples include
Breweries, Fishing Grounds, Hotels and Petrol Stations)
New Stations (Each square on the station can now
have a different graphic, so you can use new Graphic sets to make large
stations with halls, or small stations with benches and small buildings)
Canals with locks so boats can travel over land
that is higher than the sea
New sounds for vehicles (So vehicles can now make
more realistic sounds)
Cooperative play (more than two players)
For more info on these new stations and cargo types,
see the 'About the New Graphics' page.
They are still working, probably as you read this, so
go to www.ttdpatch.net/src today and
download the latest Alpha version!
